A group of Republican senators are expressing outrage over the revelation that the budget bill will cut retirement benefits to disabled veterans.
U.S. senators Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, and Roger Wicker of Mississippi recently held a news conference to reveal information provided them by the Department of Defense, which confirmed that the budget agreement passed Wednesday will cut benefits to service members forced to retire due to injuries.
“We were told it didn’t affect servicemen who are retired on disability,” says Wicker, but that turned out to be untrue after lawmakers contacted the Pentagon. Disabled retired veterans are also affected, he tells OneNewsNow.
“It’s just another blow and in my view we’re going to have find a way to fix it,” Wicker tells OneNewsNow.
