27 exchange students from Brazil leave JSU; crime cited

The Brazilian Consulate has removed a group of students enrolled at Jackson State University after students were robbed on campus in separate incidents.

Beatriz Varros, deputy counsel of the Consulate General of Brazil in Atlanta, said the decision to remove the students came last week due to safety concerns.

On Nov. 9, two gunmen robbed one of the exchange students of his iPhone while he stood outside a fast-food restaurant on campus just after nightfall. That same night, three other students were robbed.
