NATCHEZ, Miss.- If you live in Columbus, Jackson or Natchez you can voice your opinion on a proposed charter school there later this month.
The Charter School Authorizer Board voted last week to host public hearings in three Mississippi communities where charter schools could eventually be opened.
The public hearing is set for May 20 in Columbus, May 21 in Jackson and May 22 in Natchez. It’s another step before the board decides whether it will approve what would be Mississippi’s first charter schools.
The board plans to vote on applications June 2, finalizing contracts with approved schools later that month.
