Voter ID unlikely for Nov. election

An initiative requiring Mississippi voters to show government-issued identification before casting a ballot was passed this past November.

Yet, it would be a long shot come November, when Mississippians take to the polls to decide on their congressmen at home and the president in Washington, D.C., if that requirement was in effect.

“We’re telling people, no, that they will not have to show ID for this election,” Forrest County Circuit Clerk Lou Ellen Adams said. “We just don’t think we’ll have the time.”
