On this week of the NFL Scouting Combine, I stand by my contention that Meyer’s job is first and foremost to win national titles at UF and then secondarily get his players ready for the NFL. Furthermore, I believe Tebow benefitted greatly by his time at UF — perhaps even more than UF benefitted.
Tebow won national titles, a Heisman Trophy and became the most celebrated player in college football history. Even if he doesn’t make it in the NFL, his future is set and he can make a handsome living just being Tim Tebow for the rest of his life. Yes, UF and Meyer obviously benefitted from Tebow’s greatness, but Tebow benefitted at least as much.
