Friday night’s televised debate may prove significant for U.S. Senate hopefuls Republican Roger Wicker and Democrat Ronnie Musgrove.
A new independent poll – with a margin of plus or minus 4.5 percent – shows Wicker with 49 percent to Musgrove’s 47 percent, making the Nov. 4 race a neck-and-neck contest again.
The telephone survey of 500 likely Mississippi voters was taken Tuesday by Rasmussen Reports.
Statistically, the race was tight in May and June, but over the summer, Wicker, the incumbent, began pulling away. In August he led 47-42.
