A Democratic representative blasted by the Republican party over travel expenses has a change of heart about his upcoming trip.

This, after eyebrows were raised over taxpayers having to foot the bill.

Representative Tyrone Ellis of Starkville says he will reimburse the state for a trip to the Democratic National Convention in Denver next week.

This blog site posted the state travel voucher. The voucher approved taxpayer funds for $1,750 to pay for lodging for Ellis’s (sic) trip.

The house majority leader could have spent up to $5,000 on this trip, according to the state auditors office.

The voucher says the purpose for the trip is “educational.”
