Wolverines comb nation for prospects

A year ago, Rich Rodriguez was forced to scramble to assemble his first recruiting class at Michigan.
The bulk of it was already in place from the efforts of Lloyd Carr’s staff, so Rodriguez’s assistants spent January finishing it off, mostly with speed players from previously untapped areas or recruits grabbed at the last minute from commitments to other programs.

This year, with an entire recruiting year at his disposal, Rodriguez has a class full of prospects who better fit his spread offense from areas where his staff has more contacts, despite the 3-9 season on the field.
