In a potentially huge move for his political status and that of the Mississippi delegation, Roger Wicker (R-MS) has been elected as the Chair of the NRSC.

Having been a big fundraiser for Senate Republicans this cycle, he played a pivotal role in getting involved in the Thad Cochran primary that had an enormous impact on the Senate map nationwide.

Wicker Elected Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee

U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., released the following statement after he was elected to serve as Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC):

“I am thankful for the confidence and the support of my colleagues. I intend to roll up my sleeves immediately to ensure that we have the resources available to preserve our Republican majority. This Senate Republican leadership team is ready to go to bat for the American people, and I am proud to be a part of it.”

The Chairman of the NRSC is the sixth-highest ranking leadership position in the Republican Party conference of the United States Senate.
